Prvu pesmu sam napisao 2003. godine. Desilo se to potpuno spontano i neočekivano, bez ikakve želje da postanem pesnik. Imao sam emociju i zapisao sam je. Tada sam počeo gajiti duboko i istinsko razumevanje poezije. Čitao sam knjige mnogih svetskih pesnika, na engleskom, španskom, persijskom, arapskom, francuskom i portugalskom jeziku. Danas mladi ljudi mogu lako izrasti u kvalitetne pisce, zbog dostupnosti resursa i Interneta, gde mogu proširiti svoja znanja vezano za književnost.

U ovo troje moramo videti i osetiti umetnost leta, njegovo značenje, poruku, oblik, sliku i melodiju. Poezija je poput flaute čiju melodiju možete čuti dušom.

U čemu pronalazite glavni izvor inspiracije?

Najčešće bivam inspirisan kada udjem u reku i u njoj nepomično stojim; kada šetam kroz gomilu i čujem tišinu; kada vidim nepravdu, glad, sirotinju kojoj se grešnici smeju…

U tom razmišljanju on sazreva i razvija jezik za ispisivanje svojih emocija.

Nova generacija kurdistanskih pesnika štampa knjige svojim novcem. Pravog pesnika tuku vlasti i veliki broj štamparskih agencija. Neki su ostali, izdržali taj pritisak,  a neki su otišli…

Znate li nešto o Srbiji i srpskom narodu?

Iako nisam putovao ni u jednu drugu zemlju osim u Iran 1997. godine, putovao sam u mnoge zemlje, svojom maštom i znanjem. Još davno sam upoznao Srbiju, čitao sam dosta o njoj, njenom narodu, istoriji, jeziku…

PESHAWA KAKAYI – DELICATE EMOTIONS OF THE POET’S SOUL

You are a young poet who writes deep, thoughtful and spiritual poetry. Tell us, when did you start writing and what does poetry mean to you?

I wrote my first song in 2003. It happened completely spontaneously and unexpectedly, without any desire to become a poet. I had an emotion and I wrote it down. It was then that I began to cultivate a deep and true understanding of poetry. I have read books by many world poets, in English, Spanish, Persian, Arabic, French and Portuguese. Today, young people can easily grow into quality writers, due to the availability of resources and the Internet, where they can expand their knowledge related to literature.

The first phase of every poet lies in understanding poetry and identifying with emotions he wrote. Poetry has a guardian in it – a language in which it is written and which gives it expressiveness. Therefore, poetry must first of all purify the language within itself: through it the poet must be able to see, to hear, to taste, to smell and finally feel life. If that is not the case, then that poetic language is not purified and cannot show us the world by itself. Many of the poems I have read are not written in pure language.

Poetry is language, thought and imagination for flying. In these three we must see and feel the art of flight, its meaning, message, form, image and melody. Poetry is like a flute whose melody you can hear with your soul.

What do you find the main source of inspiration?

I am usually inspired when I enter a river and stand motionless in it; when I walk through the crowd and hear silence; when I see injustice, hunger, the poor that sinners laugh at… When some people oppress the weak and innocent, I can’t be relaxed and happy, but that inspires me to write. These are topics that flow directly and unconsciously into me and encourage me to write poems.

You know, poetry is a world that connects the visible and the invisible, making them one. We have to look at the world with all its dimensions, so that poetry itself will be a new world, in addition to the one we already know and live.

For the past few years, I have been writing poetry projects and looking for a way to produce a spirituality that others will understand.

How important is spirituality in your life and how much is it present in your poems?

The soul is an important part of human life and is reflected in my poems, almost always. If someone observes the world with his soul, he will solve the problems of life, instability, injustice, hatred and many other things. Spirituality has a message of life and communion. There is no harmony among the Gods, but all of us who believe in God must work for all beings, for all of humanity.

So far you have published nine books since 2008. Tell us how difficult these years were for you?

Each book is a pain in itself. The author must prepare for each book to learn how to think about it. In that thinking, he matures and develops a language for writing his emotions. It was difficult for me, both from the economic side and from the production side. Writing is a very responsible process that, step by step, shows the language and thinking of the author. I used to dedicate more time to writing poetry, now I have turned to poetry projects and I enjoy it.

What are the most significant qualities of a good poet, in your opinion?

A good poet must be brave, he must oppose injustice and work on morality. He must strive and seek an equal life for all, fight for freedom, justice and law in his country. The poet must oppose racism and class, he must feel the hunger of others, he must be sad about endangering the environment and he must love animals. He must be honest and have a clear mind. Also, he must be careful and know how to think through the language he speaks. I am talking about the life of a real poet who cares about his people and people in general, and not about fake poets of the ruling parties and mafias.

Do you have moral and financial support from family, friends, fellow writers and other literary associates?

Unfortunately, capitalism has made people ignore the meaning of love. I grew up in a poor family, with one illiterate parent. I found support in the lives and works of former and current writers who have rich life experience. There is no support from friends and colleagues of the poet. In recent years, hatred has spread. Happiness and love among people have faded and are only verbal.

Can you describe the life of a poet in Kurdistan?

I want to speak honestly about poetry and the life of poetry in Kurdistan. They accuse me because I am talking about the true life of the poet, just as they accused six journalists recently. They were arrested and detained. They only talked about freedom and journalism, and they were declared patriots and conspirators. The freedom and life of poets, journalists and all independent people are in danger. If we read the poem of the poet Kani, or the poem of the poet Fajak Bekas, we will see that until the middle of the twentieth century, the life of the poet was painful, poor and miserable.

From Kanija to Haji Kadri Koje, the poet tried to defend his identity and talk about his existence in the world. To understand the poet’s life, we must explore his poems and get to know his pain.

Since 1991, the lives of poets in Kurdistan have taken a different shape. The poets were divided. Some of them kept silent not to talk about the power of the two party families. Some returned from Europe and sat down with the authorities. Some of the real poets left their homeland and went to Europe. However, there are poets outside of Kurdistan who receive social money and receive money from a corrupt and tribal party in Kurdistan.

However, there are poets who oppose that authority, they have been arrested and oppressed because of their freedom of speech. So, real poets have never enjoyed their lives: freedom, equality, justice and legal rights. The powerful people are opening poetry centers for their fake poets. These centers are not government centers, but party ones. The party is chasing poets to make their lives better and easier, in order  to keep them silent about the injustice of their party. We have hundreds of poets fighting against that authority, and many are silent.

A new generation of Kurdistan poets is printing books with their own money. The real poet is beaten by the authorities and a large number of printing agencies. Some stayed, withstood that pressure, and some left… The people always go where the poets are.

How much did the Kovid pandemic affect the lives of people in Iraq, Kurdistan?

In Iraq, the small percentage of people lost their lives because of Kovid, in Kurdistan, is the same. There is no sense of security and safety in Iraq on many other issues that make life meaningless.

You mostly write about humanity. How do you see humanity in the 21st century?

Yes, I just published a book called The Immortals, where I talk about humanity. I’m talking about human thinking in the capitalist world. However, let me briefly say that human beings today are disguised, becoming machines and not caring about whether their world is true or not. Nowadays, people are not thinking too much and there is a lot to see, hear and say. In that process people unconsciously become robots.

Would you like to travel to Europe and maybe visit Serbia? Do you know anything about Serbia and the Serbian people?

Although I did not travel to any country other than Iran in 1997, I traveled to many countries, with my imagination and knowledge. I met Serbia a long time ago, I read a lot about it, its people, history, language… I would like to see the capital, Belgrade.

As a citizen of the Iraqi region of Kurdistan, I cannot travel where I want. Iraq is very weak in international relations. I hope to be able to travel in the future. If I am not able to visit your country, I hope that my last project “Europe”, which will appear in the next few years, will arrive in Serbia.
